Apple End of Life Devices

With each iteration of macOS, Apple changes its requirements as to what devices can operate it. If your Apple device cannot run an up-to-date macOS, you won’t be able to continue using it for NC State business, under RUL 08.00.14 – System and Software Security Patching Standard.

In order to tell if your Mac is eligible for end-of-life replacement, check to make sure it is newer than these models:

MacBook introduced in early 2015 or later
MacBook Air introduced in mid 2012 or later
MacBook Pro introduced in mid 2012 or later
Mac mini introduced in late 2012 or later
iMac introduced in late 2012 or later
Mac Pro introduced in late 2013 or later
