Putnam Problem Sessions

The Putnam Problem Sessions are student organized meetings for undergraduates to practice and hone their problem solving skills. The bulk of problem sessions is spent working out problems as a group or individually and comparing solutions. Usually, problems are chosen from past competitions like the Putnam, the IMO, the Virginia Tech Regional Math Competition, etc.

These sessions are a great opportunity for students of all skill levels. Newer students can get introduced to problem solving strategies and competition math, and more experienced students can deepen their knowledge and understanding by getting practice and helping others.

The Putnam Problem Sessions are usually held weekly throughout most of the Fall and Spring semesters.

In Fall 2023, the problem sessions are held Wednesdays from 2-4pm in Room 125 in the 1911 Building.
